Two products, two quantity bases
BasaltechSA supplies chopped basalt fibre by the required mass and basalt mesh geogrid in rolls. Use your mix dosage or pavement layout to calculate the quantity, then request pricing for delivery to your South African site.
Chopped basalt fibre quantities and material cost
- Concrete fibre quantity in kg
- Concrete volume in m³ × specified dosage in kg/m³
- Fibre material cost per m³
- Specified dosage in kg/m³ × quoted fibre price in R/kg
- Fibre material cost per m² of slab
- Slab thickness in metres × dosage in kg/m³ × price in R/kg
For example, an order for 100 m³ of concrete at a specified dosage of 3 kg/m³ requires 300 kg of fibre. This is a quantity example; enter the dosage from your own mix specification.
For asphalt, multiply the mix quantity in tonnes by the specified dosage in kg per tonne. The fibre product page lists the supplier’s application dosage guidelines.
Basalt mesh roll coverage and price per m²
Each 2.95 m × 100 m roll contains 295 m² of basalt mesh. Divide the quoted roll price by 295 for the nominal material cost per square metre. Use the net coverage from your layout for the installed-area rate, including overlaps and cutting.
Our quantity estimator accepts a pavement area and an allowance for overlaps and cutting, then rounds the order up to whole rolls.
Comparing basalt and conventional reinforcement costs
Put quotations for your specified options on the same basis: material quantity, delivered price and installation scope. A steel mesh price per sheet and a basalt fibre price per kilogram can be converted to a material cost for the same concrete volume or floor area using the quantities in each specification.
For an installed comparison, include the actual fixing or dosing operations, handling and waste for each option. Record delivery and VAT consistently. BasaltechSA can quote the basalt component from your quantities, so you can compare it with the other prices for your project.

Common questions
How is chopped basalt fibre priced?
Request a quotation for your required mass of fibre and delivery location. Multiply the quoted price in R/kg by your specified dosage in kg/m³ to obtain the fibre material cost per cubic metre of concrete.
How is basalt mesh priced per square metre?
Divide a quoted roll price by 295 m² for the nominal material rate. For the installed-area rate, use the net coverage after the overlaps and cutting in your layout. Confirm VAT and delivery on the quotation.
What information do I need for a basalt quotation?
Send the product, required quantity, delivery town and required date. For chopped fibre, include the application and dosage if known. For mesh, include the pavement area or roll quantity.
